Question on Advertisers

Question
- Do you think advertisers have a moral duty to avoid stereotyping people?

I believe that advertisers should stay away and avoid stereotyping people because, I think that it isn't right to make people question themselves on why they aren't like these models, and why they aren't suitable to use that product made for specific people. In my opinion I believe all advertisements these days are made for people to question themselves and not believe in themselves this is a huge mistake as I believe these days people have a low self-esteem and insecure about themselves, people these days are insecure about their weight, body shape, skin, etc. These are all factors that advertisers should try to stay away from when advertising as these are the reasons viewers question themselves.

I agree with advertisers having to stay away from stereotyping because I believe that people should feel better with themselves depending on the advertisement being shown, especially that advertisement aren chosen by the viewer as they are mostly forced to watch them as everything is advertised. I think that specific adverts should be shown depending on how they present the ad in it and as long as no stereotyping is shown. There are advertisements that are standing up to these specific types of ads on how stereotyping shouldn’t be shown in advertisements and these are the ads that should be shown on T.V, Cinemas, Youtube, etc.

Advertisement in Class Blog Post

Advertisement in Class Blog Post

In class we were given a new advertisement to look at and to write a blog post of in a structured way. This ad cover was created by Child Fund International its a world know charity that is also known as (Christian Children's Fund) which is a charity known for providing services  for children around the world. They are known for there ads, tv commercials, photographs, etc. This is one of the many ads that they have done and created, however in my opinion this ad stands out because it talks about one of the most important problem that has been happening in the world, which is girls and education

This ad portrays the problem that has been occurring in countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc. The problem that is witnessed is the problem of girls and education, in countries like these the society doesn’t give the opportunities to girls to go to school and learn, they are forced to stay home and learn from their mothers to get married at  a young age and be like them. This is the main goal of the Advertisement which was to try and send a message to the viewers and to tell them about the occurring problem and to warn them about the issue that is happening. This is mostly aimed at the people that are willing to donate to support to help these girls achieve their goal and go to school and change that life that is planned for them. As a remembrance of this problem we go back to when a famous celebrity and well known activist Malala Yousafzai who was shot on the way to school by Taliban however she survived it and fought through it and became well known around the world and has won a noble peace prize for that. This ad is trying to decrease issues like that and allow these girls to go to school without knowing there is a danger on their lives and learn and educate themselves.

These girls who can’t go to school because of society and how they cant achieve what they want

This is basically the main point of this advertisements to portray this problem and raise awareness for these girls. Child Fund International added all the information needed in the Ad to help and fix this issue.  TRY TO HELP AS WELL.

Pitch Reflection

Overall I think that our pitch was really good and the presentation of it was completed well, considering the fact that our item wasn't that easy to talk about and present however my group and I found a way to present it. We searched for names that can fit with the company that will be producing the High Protein Meat and it's context however we found a way to find a suitable name and came up with, "MikaKuto". During the Presentation we all used the same appeal which was Health Appeal, considering that we were advertising a new type of fake meat that can be eaten by Meat Lovers, Vegans, Vegetarians, etc. That's the reason why we talked about Health Appeal however we split it up and each one of us talked about a specific idea in depth, an example that I did was talking about how the protein plants were tested and they were edible to create the meat and consumed by the costumer. In our presentation we had 3 persuasive techniques used we tried to make it as credible and logical enough to persuade the CEO of the company into why he should take our advertisement idea to use it. My peers and I had different techniques Hasan Khan talked about how we are linked to famous Hollywood star Jackie Chan and how he accepted our offer to try our meat (as he is a vegetarian himself). Andrew Dando used A rhetorical question where he tried to talk about how we could link this to the viewer and link it to his emotion. Finally it was my-self and I used the technique of experts because, if we borrow the experts to try the meat and they feel satisfied about the quality and that it's safe then that's a clear pass into selling it to the public. We found these 3 ways suitable as it also linked to Ethos, Pathos, and Logos that's why we thought of each one choosing that specific technique. In the near future if I was asked to do the same presentation again with the same peers I think I would change one thing only. The presentation and how it looked, that means the words on it instead of pictures. The final thing was our appearance in my opinion I think we needed to look more formal. Overall it was great and my peers worked really well and we produced a high quality presentation.

Ad linking to Logos

Ad about Logos

John West Salmon - Advertisement

In this advertisement it showed that it was a Logos (principle of divine reason and creative order), and I believe that in this Ad Logos was shown because in the Ad the creativity was based on trying to get the best quality Salmon. So the creativity was shown in it by going out to a lake and fighting a bear for a Salmon fish because it's fresh, so in this Ad the company is marketing their product by telling the costumer that they don't have to fight a bear to get the best quality Salmon and they could easily buy John West Red Salmon.

Letter To The Editor

15/October/2016

Dear Editor,

I’m writing to respond to your Article, “Twtr? It's majorly bad! Leading headteacher condemns 'text speak' for eroding schoolchildren’s language skills” 24, March, 2014
Text Language has become, a serious issue that teenagers are not aware of it affecting them, and at the same time affecting their language and studies. I agree with you on the fact that texting has become a serious issue with this generation and that it needs to stop. The reason that it should stop is that the more the children will wear this type of language the more the possibility of them using it in school and assignments increase. This isn’t acceptable for their education and at the same time their future because, this language can’t be used when it comes to important matters such as jobs, interviews, etc. Thats why I totally agree with trying to stop or limit the children of using this type of new language which affects their knowledge on the formal language used everywhere.
There are many ways that we can try and support the children/teenagers into using correct language while texting, especially now since everything has become modernized. Autocorrect can be crucial and it has been applied to mobile phones and the softwares which makes it easier, and at the same time if its not about the spelling and the length of the word “Apple” have added a knew addition to their software “Word Predictor” which can predict the words you want to type without having to type it all by yourself. Laptops and devices are an easier case because in this generation all students in the developed countries use devices to complete their work needed to be submitted, and the advantage of these devices is that their programs are developed to not approve of Text Language and its easier to se auto-correct. Their are many ways to stop this from becoming a bigger issue then it is we just need to think about it.
Sincerely,
Hassan Khalil

Interview with Tupac

As a reporter working for a big magazine like Billboard isn't an easy thing however at the same time there are many advantages to it, one of these advantages is getting to meet many of the famous musician artists. As for myself I got to meet several rap artists, however one interview that I will never forget is the time I got to meet Tupac Shakur. That man was basically known as the man who created rap also known as the "God of Rap", etc. Meeting him was a pleasure and an honor I will remember for a long time.

To sit with a man like Tupac means that no matter what you can't stop talking and asking questions unfortunately I didn't have that much time, I had only 10 min to sit with him so I went straight away with the main questions. I started off by asking the most important question, "What do you think of/about while writing your songs." He replied, "I think about my life, my community, how we're treated, I think about all that when I'm writing my songs because, thats what inspires me to write my songs, when I write my songs I talk about our problems as the black community and what causes our fights, I don't just talk about our problems but, I also talk about how we could unite and solve our problems and face the haters and all that you feel me." Then my second question was, "Why do you think 'racists' would listen to your songs and act better towards you and show your community the same respect they show themselves." Tupac, "Well let me tell you somthin' I don't care who listens to my songs all I care about is whoever listens to it focuses on what I say because, when they do they'll understand our struggles and how we were raised and how the kids now as well were also raised its not the best of life at all thats why I write my songs thats why I don't care if who listens to my songs because if you just imagine how we live then you'll understand and try to help. Unfortunately that was it for the interview thats all I had to ask the man himself Tupac.

As a fan of Tupac's music I realized how deep his music was and what it really meant to him now that I actually sat with him and understood what he wanted the listeners to here. However, it is hard being a "nigga" till this day as racism is increasing and will increase, so having someone like Tupac is important and crucial so that we could understand the Black Community more often and feel how hard it is for them to live.

Analytical Response

Looking back at the stories also can be defined as memoirs that we took in class. The two different memoirs written by two different authors Amy Tan and David Sedaris, they were two different stories however they had one topic and one idea that they wanted the audience to understand and develop. The main idea of both memoirs was to show the issues both authors had while trying to develop and learn a new foreign language however, it went deeper into understanding how it affected their identity as a person in a foreign country trying to learn a new language in front of the public. This showed and proved how difficult it was based on experience and being put in a spot not knowing exactly what to do or say.

Trying to show my understanding of the topic and what I understood from both memoirs I'm going to write an analytical response about how language can always change our identity and how we look in peoples eyes and how they see us, and at the same time how we see ourselves and how we identify ourselves. Knowing ur identity in this case is not about how you act with people or what you do, in this case identity is understood by your name, your language, and where you come from etc. This is what actually matters in this case of knowing your identity when it comes to learning a foreign language in a different country then yours and how people see you in their eyes different then others in your own country would. The reason being is that while learning a new language it can affect you with realizing, that means that you can forget your mother tongue easily by always talking that specific language and not speaking your formal language, thats why its crucial to always keep up with your language and the slangs words etc. because if you don't remember all that you basically lost your identity. From the memoirs written by Tan and Sedaris I got to understand the difficulty of trying to learn a new language and how that can not only affect your identity but at the same time affecting our personality, looking at Sedaris when he went to France he was confident about being able to learn the language and it being easy however, he realized that being in a foreign country having everyone in the country speaking the language your trying to learn is hard so his confidence decreased and when he returned to the US he was less confident especially being separated into leveled classes.

I totally agree with the idea of language being able of changing us in many different ways and especially our identity thats why its always important to understand and develop your identity so that it doesn't change. It is hard to maintain and keep hold of your true identity while learning a language especially when its totally new to you, because you put yourself in the situation of talking one specific language and not talking anything else however thats wrong, and in my opinion you should always try to talk both the language your trying to learn and your mother tongue language cause thats what identifies you as a person.

MY AMAZING NAME

What can we describe an identity as, it is the background of your name or its who you could be as a person. Understanding Identity can be very complicated and hard to be figured out by any person. However, there can always be indications a person might make that tells you what type of person they are or eve you are,  it isn't always have to be accurate but at least it will give you a wider/better perspective about your identity (Country, Personality, etc.). This indicition can be extended and understood by knowing your name, and thats what I will do in today's blog I will explain my name and I will show you how you can understand my identity by it.

My name Hassan Khalil, the first name Hassan it stands for good it is a translated from the Arabic word Hassanat (حَسَنَات) - Hassan,2016. Knowing this I know that I have Arabic origins given an Arab name, this is actually true as I have Arab origins considering the given fact I am a Muslim and as well that i'm Egyptian (Arab) so it isn't a surprise my name relates to Arabic origin which shows that I would have. My name also has a personal meaning and as I researched on it by asking my father I realized that, I was named after my fathers late uncle which he was attached to and he named me after him. That is why I was named Hassan.
My family name Khalil, there isn't much too add about my family as all we know and I know is that its my great grandfathers name and it is what I'm called in the attendance and in school. Another fact is that it's an old name they called kids in the 17th century.

Thats All Folks

Culture Differences and Similarities

In a world where we have 7,452,700,127 people we have many differences such as; our languages there are more then 6,000 different languages in our society right now which means its harder for us to understand one another and thats why I think that we should always at least have an idea on other languages thats an example. There are more examples of differences between us as people but the main focus is on cultures and how they differentiate from country to country. It's hard to know and understand that if you don't have some background information on a specific country and what they do to celebrate or specific rituals and their religions it all differs from country. Thats why theres always an advantage of being international student you get to know people from different countries from all around the world and they share with you some information about their country while you share as well, which will give you a wider idea of the different cultures and traditions from around the world. As well you could find out that some countries have the same traditions as other countries. This is why it's always important to know the cultures and traditions of other countries not only ours

Who Am I?

Hi I'm Hassan, and this is my blog (Lame). Hello and welcome to my blog I'm an Egyptian living in the UAE, 16 years old this is what I believe to be my 8th year in the country, until now I've been having such a great time here I met lots of new people and some of them became important such as; Zeid, Qais (Qaisis), etc. Friends are always are an important part in our lives but as some of us aren't from this country real friends are the ones we refer to back home, for example my friends here are cool and fun but there's always that barrier which makes us realize we're not the same. As a normal person I have many hobbies and interests that I enjoy spending my time on like; Football,I also enjoy watching Fencing, and Archery. These are some of the many sports I enjoy watching when I have any free time. What I care about? I care about many things in my life anything that is important in my eyes I care about, I care about specific people in my life Family, Friends, etc. They are the most important and crucial people in my life and ill always try my hardest to take care of them and be there for them. For this year I have a lot of dreams to accomplish first of all get 36 or more points and my second dream is to stay friends with the people I care about thats one for now and the future. I have a lot of dreams to accomplish but I will let time decide for me.
In my opinion and looking back to my past in different schools language is an important factor in life and its crucial to learn and understand because, in our time right now we need to know more then one language including English its crucial because, its the language that we all speak and understand each other with thats why its crucial to learn and understand the language everyone talks about. I have always felt in a way that the language barrier on me knowing people cause I didn't understand them which might have effected knowing each other. Thats all for today folks.
